A JOURNEY TO THE ANCIENT TIMES

Towering trees forming a canopy all around,

Spectacular waterfalls surging towards the ground,

Chock-full forest packed dense and compact.

Everlasting rain droplets drenching all that they contact,

Lush verdure and slithery soil,

From teeny ants to bulky mammals,

All of that that belongs to the tropical forest

Beholds a mystery that humans can hardly forecast.

Of all the animals, when asked about the longest one, our answer would right away be, the Blue Whale. When asked about the longest in snakes, the answer would be the Green Anaconda that is mostly found in the Amazon river of South America.

The green anaconda is almost 8 meters(26 feet) in length and weighs about 227 kg(0.25 ton). What if you were told that the now longest snake would not have been the winner about 60 million years ago!!

CERRAJON FORMATION

The above pictured Cerrajon formation is a mine in Colombia, South America which raised the controversy of the longest snake ever lived on the Earth. Almost a decade ago, the excavation for mining at Colombia revealed the shocking discovery of vertebrae which were later determined to be similar to that of the species belonging to the Boa genus of snakes.

The collection of vertebrae were arranged to get the full picture and the result was an utterly shocking length and a world record break of the longest snake that ever existed. The anaconda was met with a double-sized competitor which was named as Titanoboa meaning, an incredibly large boa. The researchers estimated a length of 42 feet (12.8 m) weighing more than a ton.

TITANOBOA LIFE SIZED MODEL

There is a life-sized model of Titanoboa at the Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, New York that measures upto 48 feet weighing about 1.25 tons.

Comment down when you came to know the longest snake that lived on the Earth!

UNTIL NEXT TIME, SEE YOU BUDDIES!!
