    The sea waters always own a peculiar interest in individuals. Here, I have listed out few among the top unique water bodies around the world. Guess what!! These are veritably the most colorful delights for our sights. The thing that is common among the water bodies listed out here is the involvement of microflora that is responsible for their colors.

1. Caño Cristales

Colombia, South America

    Caño Cristales is a brightly colored river, which even the rainbow could envy about. The river show-cases five vivid colors including red, black, blue, green and yellow. This is a Meta Colombian river in South America. This broad cleft of water stretches over 100km (62 miles) and lies overall in Serrania de la macarena. Due to the colorful wing, it is also known as River of Five Color or the Liquid Rainbow. The river hosts no fishes which makes it an ideal place to go on an undisturbed Swim.

COLOR IS DUE TO:

• The candy Red is due to the growth of a river bed plant named Macarenia clavigera.
• The pitch Black is due to the Rocks.
• The spring Green is caused by the blooms of Algae.
• These colors are supplemented with the Aqua Blues and Sandy Yellows.

2. Red Sea

    This Red Sea is bordered by various lands and waters including Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Gulf of Aden, Sinai Peninsula, the Gulf of Aqaba, and the Gulf of Suez. It covers over an area of 438,000 square kilometers with a maximum depth of 2,211 meters. It is one the saltiest waters with a salinity range of 3.6 to 4.1% It has a varied flora and fauna which is a rich sight to revel in.

COLOR IS DUE TO:

• The ruby Red color of the sea is due to the blooms of Cyanobacteria named Trichodesmium erythraeum which upon death provides the blue-green water, a reddish-brown dye. 
• This varies in intensity throughout the sea surface area.

3. Pink Lake-Lake Hillier

Esperance, Australia

    Lake Hillier is one of the Pink Lakes that exists in the world and covers over an area of 37 acres. It houses no flora other than the microbes due to its high salinity, yet it is safe to go for a swim. It splashes a prominent pink view and is rather observed from an aerial view than from the surface.

COLOR IS DUE TO:

• The bubblegum pink is majorly generated by a halophilic alga Dunaliella salina. 
• It is recently observed that the color is complemented by various otheer microflora inclusive of Salinibacter ruber, Dechloromonas aromatica, and a few species of the Archaea.

4. Lakes of Mt. Kelimutu

Central Flore Island, Indonesia

    The 3 lakes on the 3 different closely-located craters of the volcanic Mount. Kelimutu is the result of an eruption in the past and deposition as well as connection to the remainings and under-surface chemicals, respectively, from the peak. The varied speciality of the lakes can be observed clearly from an aerial view and this corresponds to the diverse change of the colors in the lakes. The appearances can range anywhere between Blue, green, black and red. It is considered sacred as the people believe that the souls reach those lakes, ultimately.

COLOR IS DUE TO:

• The diverse colors are reported in various views. 
• Certain says that it is due to the chemicals due to the eruption and the underground volcano present there.
• Various others claim that that is the result of certain pigment producing microflora.
• Despite the variations in the causes of the colors, the sight of the colors is always a spectacle for the human visions.

5. Mudhdhoo Island

Maldives

    Also known as Vaadhoo island, is simply a splendid glimpse and is worth the travel. Guess what!! This beach indisputably glows all through the night. A natural phenomenon termed as BIOLUMINESCENCE, in lay-man terms GLOW-IN-THE-DARK is displayed by far-flung waterbody.

COLOR IS DUE TO:

• The blue radioactive-light-fairy-dusts in the Maldives waters is flourished by the glowing Phyto-planktons, i.e., Ostracod crustaceans.
